Weekly Fishing Report

Thursday 20th January 

Lakes Entrance

Myer Street Jetty is producing whiting - best bait being pipis and prawn. Bullock Island for bay trout on metal lures. Kalimna Jetty also has whiting and trevally. King George whiting are active around Fraser Island with fish from the 32-52 cm mark. Offshore at Six Mile Reef for snapper and the pipeline is worth a look with good fish to be had.

Lake Tyers

Plenty of trevally to be had using blue bait and prawn, also they can be found using blue bait drifting along the Glass House banks. Main lake for bream and flathead.

Mitchell River

Bream are active from the Two Bells and all the way down to the river mouth taking prawn, cut crab and worm. Also try Picnic Point for bass – best results using diving lures.

Tambo River

Best spot for bream now are from the Three Gums and down to the river mouth and The Snags are worth a look – best baits are prawn, cut crab and plastics.

Nicholson

Between the two bridges and heading down to the river mouth are the best spots for bream. Also try the Swimming Hole drifting prawn and soft plastics for best results.

Metung

Try Shaving Point for whiting on pipis, mussels, and squid legs. The back beach is producing prawns.

Paynesville

Whiting are active in Duck Arm taking pips, worm and try squid legs. On the back side of the Island there are some tailor to be had.

Holland’s Landing

No fishing report for this week.

Marlo

Snowy River has not cleared up yet, but surf beaches are fishing well and offshore is also producing good fish.

Bemm River

The entrance is open and bream are in the lake and the channel with the best baits being prawn and soft plastics.

Tamboon Inlet

The river mouth and Furnell Landing are best for bream with prawn as preferred bait. Pelican Point is producing flathead with blue bait.

Mallacoota

The bottom lake is producing good flathead best results on prawn and soft plastics. Give surf beaches a try for salmon and tailor. Offshore is also producing good fish.

Omeo High Country

All the rivers are full of rainwater but there are good fish to be had. Give them all a try with drifting baits such as earth worm and fly patterns where possible.
