Walking the Alps  

There is something epic about hiking in the Alps. Is it the altitude, the fresh, crisp air or the mountain top views? Add this with true mountain cattlemen heritage and a wealth of history, walking the Alpine National Park is nothing short of breath-taking. 


Australian  Alps Walking Track

This highly regarded 655km walk from Walhalla to Canberra passes through the Alpine National Park. The track winds its way along ranges, climbs the highest peaks and crosses over sparse plains. Walkers should be experienced bushwalkers to tackle this great walk. Shorter portions of the great Alps walking track can also be accessed from East Gippsland.

Bentley Creek Walk 

This signposted grassland walk incorporates a new boardwalk which allows you to walk across the plain whilst protecting the alpine environment. The track flows alongside the Bentley Creek and brings you to enjoy 360 degree views of the surrounding ridges. In the Spring, the area is flourishing with native wildflowers, bringing a beautiful, colourful contrast against the natural backdrop.

Mt Hepburn (King Cassilis) Mine & Treatment Works Walk 

This historically rich walk takes you back to the late 1860’s when the gold leases first opened up in the area. By the 1870’s most of the mines had been abandoned as the gold was too difficult  to retrieve. The mine has had several flutters to be re-worked over the years, and this walk will lead you on a history-filled adventure into past times.
