East Gippsland acknowledges the Gunaikurnai, Monero and the Bidawel people as the Traditional Custodians of the land that encompasses East Gippsland Shire. We pay our respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in East Gippsland, their Elders past and present.

Buchan Caves Reserve

The main event, the Buchan caves are no doubt a spectacular attribute to this reserve, but there is much more. The Aboriginal Traditional Owners, the Gunaikurnai identify the reserve as their traditional country. Bringing a rich background to this picturesque, tree lined area along the banks of the Buchan river. You can come for a day, or camp with the resident kangaroos in the campground.
