Orbost

Settled on the banks of the Snowy River is a town built on the professions of gold mining, timber harvesting and farming. Still prevalent today, the town is filled with hard workers constantly preparing land for the next crop, harvesting the seasons best, herding cattle, brewing beer or growing native sea vegetables.

Experience Orbost

Talk about paddock to plate, here in Orbost there is very little in between. Sailors Grave are always experimenting with a fascinating array of beer-worthy ingredients and you can taste the delicacies at The Orbost Club Hotel on tap. Snowy River Station has found a productive niche in growing boutique vegetables on usually unproductive low-lying coastal land and Snowy River Black Garlic thrive on the fertile land.

The town, surrounded by National Parks, is a big natural playground. Get amongst the trees by walking or cycling along the East Gippsland Rail Trail. Snowy River Cycling can make for a relaxing adventure with guided tours, self guided tours, transfers and accommodation so all you need to worry about is pedalling along enjoying the views. Another great ride for those who like road cycling is the route between Orbost and Buchan or check out the adventure activities on offer.
