Description

Discover Dinner Plain and nestle in among the snowgums on the high plains of the High Country. Relax, unwind and enjoy snowy fun in the winter and outdoor adventures over the warmer months. Stay in luxury accommodation inspired by the historic cattlemen's huts of the region and leave the city stresses far behind.

Couples, families and groups will find a quiet sanctuary away from nearby Mount Hotham during the ski season. The village boasts all the conveniences of a modern ski resort, including a comprehensive ski hire service and ski school. Ski around Dinner Plain's meandering cross-country trails and gentle downhill slope with beginners' poma lift.

When the snow melts and the ski resorts all but close, you'll find this alpine village in full swing. Spoil yourself at the indoor-outdoor, Japanese-style Onsen Retreat and Spa and take Sunday high tea with a glass of local sparkling at Rundells Alpine Lodge. Grab a map and walk or cycle the village trails amid the splendour of the spring wildflowers, or challenge yourself on one of the Alpine Ascent Challenge's 7 Peaks.

Play a game of high altitude tennis or saddle up on a horseback riding adventure through the Alpine National Park and enjoy spectacular views and a sense of the local cattlemen history.

You'll get to Dinner Plain on the Hume Highway, turning off at Wangaratta to the all-weather sealed Great Alpine Road. The drive takes around four-and-a-half hours. Don't forget snow chains when going up the mountains during snow season, and take a 4WD if you're planning to head off the main roads.
