Lakes Entrance

The surf beaches at Lakes have plenty of salmon, best results are found using pilchards and poppers, also give metal lures a try. Offshore at 6 Mile Reef for snapper, morwong, leatherjacket and gummy shark being caught closer to the beach at the Grange.

Lake Tyers

Plenty of flathead about, mostly around the 1 metre mark, taking blue bait, prawn and lures, luderick is active as well. Try the surf beach for salmon on pilchards and poppers.

Mitchell River

Grassy Banks to the river mouth for bream, taking cut crab and local prawn. Tailor are active around Eagle Point Bay smashing silver lures. Bream are also in the back waters taking earthworm.

Tambo River

From the cliff’s, all the way down to the river mouth for bream, best baits are prawn and cut crab.


The strait six, the reeds and down to the swimming hole are the best spots to find bream on prawn, cut crab and soft plastics.


Town jetties and the boardwalk are producing bream using prawn, cut crab and soft plastics.


Bream can be found in the strait biting on cut crab, prawn and soft plastics. The best spot for flathead is around Newlands Arm, with good results using prawn, blue bait and lures.

Holland’s Landing

Tom’s Creek and the river mouth for bream taking cut crab and prawn. Blonde Bay towards Storm Point is also worth a look?


Bream can be found in Lake Corringle on local prawn. The Rock Groynes are landing 48cm luderick, some perch are active around the islands. Salmon, tailor, gummies and bronze whalers can be found off the surf beach.

Bemm River

The entrance is still open, bream can be found in the lake and channel taking local prawn. Surf beach for salmon on lures.

Tamboon Inlet

Bream are in the river biting on prawn and crab. The football ground for flathead on pilchards and lures. The surf beach is landing tailor and salmon.


Flathead are active taking prawn, garfish may be found at the main wharf as well as flathead and bream.

Omeo High Country

Mitta Mitta, Anglers Rest, The Cobungra and other rivers in the area are producing nice trout, the bait of choice being earthworm, lures and soft plastics.
