Lakes Entrance

The rock wall for luderick with weed as preferred bait. Whiting are in the channel around the islands and up to Nungurner, the best bait is pipis, mussels and squid legs. The odd kingfish and salmon are about Eastern Beach, taking pilchards and poppers. Offshore at Six Mile Reef for pinkies and morwong.

Lake Tyers

Heading up the Nowa Nowa Arm to Cameron Arm for good size bream at 42cm on local prawn. Flathead are around the 70cm mark close to the banks around the island on soft plastics.

Mitchell River

Picnic Point and the Back Waters for bass and up towards the Barrier on diving lures. Try the Grassy Banks to The Cut for bream taking cut crab, spider crab, shrimp and prawn.

Tambo River

The Marshall Flats to the snags is best for bream, Butcher’s Creek and Salt’s Creek is also worth looking at. For bream, best baits are cut crab, soft plastics and local prawn.

Nicholson

From the boat ramp and heading down to the river mouth for bream best bait local prawn and cut crab and soft plastics.

Metung

Whiting are to be found around the town jetties with pipis, mussels and squid legs. Also, Nungurner Jetty is good for whiting. Paynesville Bream are in the strait with prawn and cut crab being the best bait, also give soft plastics a try.

Holland’s Landing

Best spots for bream currently are from Plover Point and up to Bull Bay, best baits being prawn, crab and soft plastics.

Marlo

Both rivers are producing bream and mullet. Surf beaches for salmon and tailor on usual baits. Offshore for flathead, gummies and pinkies.

Bemm River

The entrance is still open, bream is active in the river and lake, best results using worm and prawn, surf beach for salmon on pilchards and poppers.

Tamboon Inlet

Bream are active at the river mouth and all the way up to Furnell Landing, best results are using prawn and cut crab. Surf beach is landing salmon - try poppers and pilchards.

Mallacoota

Salmon and tailor are to be found in the top lake as well as bream and flathead. The bait of choice being prawn and soft plastics. Surf beaches for salmon and tailor on lures, pilchards and poppers.

Omeo High Country

The Livingstone and the Mitta Mitta River are producing good trout using earth worm – fish are plentiful.
