Weekly Fishing Report

Thursday 6th January

Lakes Entrance

Bullock Island is good for bay trout and salmon taking blue bait or pilchards. Whiting and pinkies are taking pipis and mussels at the footbridge. Try Kalimna Jetty for whiting and trevally on pipi and prawn. There are good catches of salmon on the beaches using metal spinners. Offshore Six Mile reef for snapper and the pipeline is also producing good catches. You’ll find gummies closer to the beach.

Lake Tyers

Flathead and trevally are being caught in both Trident and North Arms taking prawn and mussels. There have also been goods catches of flathead at The Glasshouse.

Mitchell River

Earlier in the week there were good catches of bream near the mouth. However, with this week’s rain the situation will change as the river becomes quite dirty.

Tambo River

Very quiet this week however there are a few bream around, this will change as the effects of the rain come into play.

Nicholson

Best spot for bream is between the two bridges, also the Car Bodies and up to Strait Six and the Poplars on prawn, soft plastics and spider crab.

Metung

Shaving Point and town jetties for bream and whiting, also try Boxes and Chinaman’s Creek.

Paynesville

The back side of Raymond Island for whiting on pipis and mussel, trolling with lures for tailor in the system. Town jetties for bream on soft plastics, prawn, spider crab as well.

Holland’s Landing

No report this week Marlo There are plenty of bream, estuary perch, luderick, salmon and tailor in the system. Offshore around

Marlo

Reef there have been good catches of kingfish. Try the surf beaches for salmon and bronze whalers.

Bemm River

Really good fishing this week. In the channel and the lake there has been plenty of bream taking local prawn, soft plastics and hard bodies. The surf has been good for salmon on poppers and blue bait.

Tamboon Inlet

The river is good for bream taking cut crab. Pelican Point is also good for bream on blue bait and pilchards

Mallacoota

Bream are about the system, best results on local prawn, soft plastics and shrimp. Flathead are also out and about in the top and bottom lakes with the best results on prawn and soft plastics.

Omeo High Country

This week’s rain has caused many of the rivers to be in flood, so not much fishing happening
