With many parts of Australia currently experiencing only their own home, it's definitely a time to dream about the places to see and things to do when we are allowed.
Many of us are wanting a little extra space after spending so much time in our own homes, so we've provided a short run down on some of things you can do in East Gippsland to help you relax.
Did you know that East Gippsland has 90 miles of beach to explore? That's a lot of sand to make sand castles, walk without seeing another soul, breath in the clean, salty air, or (if you're inclined), take a dip or ride a wave. East Gippsland is also one of the biggest regions in Victoria. It runs from Lindenow in the west (roughly 3 hours east of Melbourne), all the way to the NSW/VIC border in the east and then up to Omeo in the north. This vast area provides a diverse range of topography, including high mountain ranges (perfect for exploring by bike, 4WD or foot) to rainforest to the largest inland waterways in Australia.
But enough about our geography....what about the food, the wine, the produce? East Gippsland is a restaurateurs dream! With its proximity to the ocean, wineries, farmers and growers, the region is quickly gaining a name for itself as a foodie destination. Foodie hotspots include The Long Paddock in Lindenow, Sardine in Paynesville, Northern Ground in Bairnsdale and Sodafish in Lakes Entrance. Not looking for fancy?
