East Gippsland Fishing Report - Thursday 3rd August

Lakes Entrance 

Hopetoun Channel and surrounding islands for Grass whiting, luderick are around the Rock Wall. Trevally can be found in Cunninghame Arm. Surf beaches for tailor and salmon chasing silver lures, offshore at Six Mile Reef are landing leather jacket, and Jack ass morwong. Water temperature is around 13.00.

Lake Tyers

Bream around the 41cm mark are in the main lake, and Blackfellows Arm using worm, cured worm and soft plastics. Surf beaches for salmon with silver lures. Water temperature is between 10.00 -11.00.

Mitchell River

Bream are slowly heading upstream, try Shadoof Lodge to the Highway bridge, best baits being soft shell, cut crab and prawn.

Tambo River

Bream are slowly heading upstream, try Shadoof Lodge to the Highway bridge, best baits being soft shell, cut crab and prawn. 

Nicholson

From the river mouth, Swimming Hole, Two Bridges continuing up to the Car Bodies, Straight Six and The Poplars give cut crab, soft shell, prawn or plastics a go. 

Metung

For bream, mullet, silver trevally and the odd flathead try the jetties along the eastern side of Shaving Point, opposite the Metung Hotel, and along the wharfs, in the weed beds and in the deeper water.

Paynesville

Town jetties for bream, using drifting prawn. Surf beaches for salmon and tailor, gummies are closer to the shore.

Holland's Landing

Seacombe Landing, the Woodpile, and Hollands Landing for bream. For flathead try Griffin Point, Tom’s Creek, Blonde Bay and Storm Point, best results with prawn, cut pilchard and plastics.

Marlo

Luderick, bream and mullet are active around The Junction biting on worm. Tailor and salmon on the incoming tide and over on the surf beaches chasing metal lures.

Bemm River

The entrance is still open, bream are active taking peeled prawn and soft plastics. The channel and surf beach has salmon with metal lures, give blue bait a go as well.

Tamboon Inlet

Cann River has bream preferred bait being prawn, the main lake for tailor also with prawn. Surf beaches are landing salmon and tailor.

Mallacoota

Gipsy Point, Genoa River, Wallagaraugh River and The Junction for bream and the odd perch on prawn, surf beaches for tailor and salmon chasing lures. Offshore has a mixed bag

Omeo High Country

Trout season reopens - Saturday 2nd September 2023.
