Cyclists and walkers love Nowa Nowa. The town is the midpoint of the East Gippsland Rail Trail. Enjoy a town of four bridges: ride west on the rail trail to see the Stony Creek Trestle Bridge, Victoria’s largest timber bridge. Explore the central part of town to see the historical railway bridge over Boggy Creek and head a short distance east on the rail trail to the third bridge over Ironstone Creek. Further east of the township on the rail trail is the remnants of the fourth bridge at Wairewa . Mountain bikers can enjoy 26km of trails at Nowa Nowa Mountain Bike Park—ideal for all skill levels. There are numerous forest drives and enjoy the view as you picnic on the top of Mount Nowa Nowa.
Nowa Nowa invites you to explore its creative heart and natural wonders. Start your journey strolling the Sculpture Walk by Lake Tyers, whimsical outdoor art on an easy lakeside trail. The underpass mural is a local favourite, and Lemon Hill Gallery in nearby Wairewa offers unique pieces. If you are keen-eyed, look for indigenous art along Boggy Creek Walking Trail to the gorge.
Nature surrounds the town. Walk the Wetlands and Gorge Trails for birdwatching and forest views. Boggy Creek cascades through the gorge before joining Lake Tyers. You Paddle a kayak, canoe, or SUP on calm waters lined by forest north towards the gorge for a close-up view of the historical bridge. Or head out from the boat ramp to explore Lake Tyers, enjoy a picnic or a multiday trip on the Lake. The boat ramp is perfect for launching small vessels, and anglers will find tranquil spots for bream, flathead, and perch.
