East Gippsland acknowledges the Gunaikurnai, Monero and the Bidawel people as the Traditional Custodians of the land that encompasses East Gippsland Shire. We pay our respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in East Gippsland, their Elders past and present.

Alpine National Park

Boasting Australia’s most stunning alpine landscapes, mountain peaks and grassy plains, the Alpine National Park is bliss. Stretching across from central Gippsland to the NSW border there are countless opportunities for outdoor activities. Take on a bushwalk, hike, cross country ski, camp, canoe, cycle, four-wheel drive or horse ride your way around the alpine environment. Featuring Victoria’s highest peaks of Mount Feathertop, Mount Bonang and Mount Howitt along with a number of historic huts, you will enjoy the crisp mountain air and snow-topped hills.

Feathers, Fur and flowers live free

Encompassing the far south east corner of this beautiful country is our own natural wonderland. National, coastal and marine parks, reserves, rivers, lakes, beaches and forests combine to bring you a world-class natural environment. Boasting thousands of native flora species, wildflowers and a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, East Gippsland is no doubt a naturally rich environment ready for you to explore.

Feathered and furry friends live freely in their natural habitat across the diverse landscapes. Ensure to keep your eyes peeled for your favourite wildlife as they can be found amongst the  undergrowth, flying high in the skies, hopping bravely through trees and bounding in the waters.
