Bentley Plain Scenic Reserve is 5.5 hours drive north east of Melbourne in Victoria’s high country.
Base yourself at the Bentley Plain campground and explore the reserve and surrounding Nunniong State Forest, including a picturesque bush walk and historic sites.
The campground boasts a former forestry hut, known as the ‘Bush Hilton’, which provides a glimpse into how forestry workers lived many years ago.
The campground is spacious with good access to several fire pits, a large picnic shelter and toilet.
The 2.5 kilometres Bentley Plain loop walk from the campground offers chance to explore sub-alpine grassland, wet heathland and forest.
Follow this loop across sphagnum moss beds, through eucalyptus and alpine ash forests. It continues out to a vantage point that gives you expansive views across Bentley Plain. There are some short, steep hills on this walk and the occasional obstacle. Some bushwalking experience is recommended.
The historic Moscow Villa Hut, Washington Winch and various walks are located nearby.
This campground is on the Nunniong Forest Drive which is a great way the explore the local scenery and history.
