Thursday 30th December

Lakes Entrance

Bullock Island is good for juvenile salmon. Try Fraser Island for whiting which is taking pipis and squid legs. Try the surf beaches for salmon with best results on blue bait pilchards and squid. Footbridge for pinkies and whiting. Offshore Six Mile reef for snapper around the 6kg mark, also the Pipeline is producing good fish, you will find gummies closer to the beach.

Lake Tyers

Best spots for bream are still at Mill Point on soft plastics and lures. Flathead are around the shallow sand banks taking prawn and pilchards at the channel markers and Glasshouse

Mitchell River

Grassy Banks, the Cut and all the way to the mouth of the river for bream with best results on spider crab and give soft plastics a try. Give the back waters at Lindenow a go for bass which are taking diving lures and worm.

Tambo River

Best spots for bream now are Clues Bluff and towards the Three Gums. Also try the power lines and all the way up to the cliffs. Best baits are shrimp, spider crab and prawn.


Best spot for bream is between the two bridges, also the Car Bodies and up to Strait Six and the Poplars on prawn, soft plastics and spider crab.


Shaving Point and town jetties for bream and whiting, also try Boxes and Chinaman’s Creek. Try the Islands like Baxter Island, Mosquito Point and Reeve Channel for whiting.


The back side of Raymond Island for whiting on pipis and mussel, trolling with lures for tailor in the system. Town jetties for bream on soft plastics, prawn, spider crab as well.

Holland’s Landing

From Lake Wellington into the Strait, the Wood Pile, Holland’s Landing and into Bull Bay are the best spot for bream. Also try the mouth of Tom’s Creek and into Jones’ Bay for bream and flathead, best results on prawn, white bait and Mr Twister rubber tail jigs.


Offshore for pinkies, flathead and kingfish in the system. Plenty of bream, perch and luderick are about. Surf beaches for salmon and there are plenty of bronze whalers to be had.

Bemm River

In the lake and the channel for bream and flathead, best results on local prawn soft plastics and hard body lures. Give the surf a shot for salmon on poppers and pilchards.

Tamboon Inlet

The river mouth is still producing good bream, taking prawn and cut crab. Also try Old Man Point. Try the shallow banks for flathead using soft plastic and lures.


Bream are about the system, best results on local prawn, soft plastics and shrimp. Flathead are also out and about in the top and bottom lakes with the best results on prawn and soft plastics.

Omeo High Country

Best spots for trout currently are the Victoria River, Mitta-Mitta and all the other rivers such as Livingstone, Cobungra and Big River on drifting worm, lures and fly patterns.
