Description

Take the unique experience of living in an earth sheltered building. The roof is a native garden and a Google Earth satellite search will show no buildings at all! When you arrive you will see the glass faces of the buildings emerging from the earth and the accommodations merging with the natural environment. This truly is a “Down to Earth” experience and could easily have been a Grand Designs feature. Down to Earth Farm Retreat is situated on a 130 acre elevated property with stunning views over the Gippsland Lakes. The property, farmed for fine merino wool, features quiet gullies, natural bushland, rocky ridges and open pasture. Native animals and birds are abundant. Located centrally, between Paynesville, Bairnsdale, Bruthen, Lakes Entrance and Metung, and between the Nicholson and Tambo Rivers there is no better place from which to explore this beautiful region of Victoria. Relax, read, walk, visit wineries just minutes away, try the Bullant Brewery, explore the Gippsland Lakes or the 90 Mile Beach - there is so much to do. As much as there is to see and do close by however, watching the magnificent sunsets, seeing the lights of Paynesville and Raymond Island over the lake and the night sky to the horizon - while enjoying a glass of wine - needs to be at the top of the list. Please feel free to use our local knowledge to find the best this exciting region has to offer, with fishing knowledge of the rivers or lakes, places to explore and other nearby hidden gems. You may also be interested in our environmentally conscious buildings, gardens and orchards. Your hosts Graham and Debbie live on the property and are available to assist guests. We are happy to now make our earth sheltered dream available to guests to experience.
